Goldenvoice Shutters Hawaiian Office

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) —

After having an Hawaiian presence since the early 1990s, Goldenvoice has quietly closed its island office. Its last produced event was a concert by NOFX at Pipeline Cafe in late February.

The late Rick Van Santen, who was co-president of Goldenvoice with Paul Tollet, was believed to have been the driving force for Goldenvoice Hawaii, having brought acts such as Jane’s Addiction, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Social Distortion to the island; he died on December 28, 2003, at the age of 41.

Goldenvoice will still be a sponsor of the upcoming Kokua Festival with Jack Johnson April 16 at the Waikiki Shell, according to the Honolulu Star Bulletin, and continue to bring arena-sized acts two or three times a year.

Goldenvoice was first acquired by Concerts West, then AEG in 2001. –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
