According to the St. Petersburg Times, the venue's new owners are Knight Global Entertainment, a partnership between to local businesses, Jeff Knight and Bill Edwards.
Improvements planned for the venue include – a larger stage with an enhanced lighting grid along with a new PA and lighting system. 'Real' indoor, air-conditioned restrooms, including 27 stalls in the women's room and stalls and urinals for men.
Other upgrades include a new patio bar, eight VIP suites lining the courtyard's balcony level and a floor-level VIP section with "a plexiglass-covered koi pond that people can stand (or dance) on."
As of yet, no date has been set for the re-opening and the website for Jannus Live has yet to be deployed but PR director Eric Snider told the St. Pete Times that shows are tentatively scheduled for late March.
Former owner Jack Bodziak was arrested in May of 2009 on charges that he failed to pay more than 200,000 in sales taxes from the venue and was in arrears on rent. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
