Jazz Singer Betty Farmer WTC Victim

Jazz singer Betty Farmer, 62, a jazz singer, who once performed at Carnegie Hall, has been confirmed as one of the people killed at the World Trade Center terrorist attacks on September 11. Farmer joined Cantor Fitzgerald just three weeks before the attacks and is among about 700 of its employees who are presumed dead.

A native of New Orleans, she debuted at 17 with a Dixieland band on Bourbon Street. After years of touring, including performances with Duke Ellington, Farmer settled in Denver and opened her own club. In 1996, she moved to New York, where she performed at clubs in Greenwich Village and Soho. She spent three years working for Showtime Entertainment in New York before joining Cantor Fitzgerald.
