NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Rapper Kanye West abruptly cut his headlining performance at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in Queens short on Sunday night, telling the crowd that he had a family emergency.
Kanye was about an hour into his set and had just launched into his hit 'heartless' when the music stopped and he announced that he had to cut his performance short, much to the consternation of his fans who were already frustrated with West after he was 30 minutes late to start the show.
Festival promoter Founders Entertainment subsequently issued a statement on the abbreviated Kanye performance, stating that there would be no refunds.
"Kanye West had to end his performance near the end of his set time to attend to a very frightening and unexpected family emergency. He put on a great show to culminate an incredible weekend of live performances, and we are looking forward to next year’s festival. We will not be issuing any refunds."
According to Associated Press, the family emergency was news that Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian West had been robbed at gunpoint while in Paris. Officials told the Associated Press that a group of armed gunmen locked her in her hotel bathroom and stole more than $10 million in jewelry.
Fortunately, Mrs. Kardashian West was apparently unharmed in the incident. She was in Paris to attend Paris Fashion Week, the AP said. – Staff Writers
