Kilimanjaro Completes Booking Team

LONDON (VIP NEWS) — Live music promoter Kilimanjaro Live has marked its first six months of operations by announcing two new appointments.

The London-based company was launched in Feb. 2008 by Stuart Galbraith as a joint venture with AEG Live.

Steve Tilley has been recruited to focus on new acts to develop. He was previously the promoter at the Sugar Mill venue in Stoke-on-Trent.

The company has also signed up Alan Day, who will continue to promote acts with his own company TCT Music in Oxford, Swindon, Reading and Northampton, while promoting shows across the U.K. for Kilimanjaro.

In its first six months, Kilimanjaro has promoted shows and tours by k.d. lang, the Eagles and Mick Hucknall, as well as taking on the Wakestock and Bloodstock festivals. It is currently working on tours for Metallica, Tracy Chapman, Simply Red and Slipknot.

Galbraith was formerly managing director of Live Nation U.K., where he played a key role in creating the Wireless and Hyde Park Calling festivals, as well as being heavily involved in 2005's Live 8 event in London’s Hyde Park and last year's Live Earth at Wembley Stadium.

"We started Kilimanjaro with the intention of building a boutique promotions company capable of taking on everything from the biggest bands in the world to specialist festivals, from pub shows to outdoor events for 150,000 people," says Galbraith in a statement. "We have specialists in all areas of the live industry and we are flexible enough to respond to the huge changes that are taking place."

The company's team of promoters already includes Oli Wilson, formerly of AEG Live, and Mark Walker, formerly of Live Nation, according to Billboard
