Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Moving Into E-Sports

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Stan Kroenke, owner of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, and his son Josh, announced that they are moving into the e-sports world and backing a team for AEG/Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch League.

Based in Los Angeles, the team will be overseen by Josh Kroenke, cofounder of the newly-launched KSE Esports division.

“Building communities around the best competitive experiences in the world is incredibly rewarding, and the Overwatch League offers the chance to create something special,” said Josh Kroenke in a statement. “We’re impressed by the vision and strategy for the League, and we’re going to build a great team for Los Angeles that inspires fans near and far.”

The Kroenkes, who own a number of traditional sports franchises, including the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Colorado Rapids (MLS) and the Los Angeles Rams (NFL), are the third team officially announced for the league. Other participants include New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who is sponsoring a team based in Boston and multi-esport organization Cloud9, who are sponsoring a London-based team.
