LEEDS, UK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Both SMG and Live Nation are girding their loins to prepare for a battle over the rights to run a new arena planned for United Kingdom city of Leeds.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the two firms were at the top of a shortlist of six candidates, since whittled down to two, to manage the new $100 million dollar, 12,500 seat arena currently under consideration. The Council is set to meet next Wednesday to determine which of the two contenders will be selected to operate the arena.
"I'm absolutely delighted with the level of interest we've had from the field's top names – not just in England, but worldwide." City Council leader Andrew Carter told the Post.
Neither firm is a stranger to operating in the UK and Live Nation runs a number of major venues there including Wembley Arena, Sheffield Hallam Arena and Cardiff International Arena, while SMG operates Manchester's MEN Arena, Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena and Belfast's Odyssey Arena.
