DUBLIN, IE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Point Theatre in Dublin is slated to re-open with a new name this December with Live Nation at the helm and with a new moniker: The O2.
According to RTE, The new name comes with the first naming rights deal for a music venue in Ireland, which saw mobile phone company O2 pact with Live Nation for an undisclosed sum.
The 13,000 capacity venue, located in Dublin's Docklands will be ready to go come December after a long refurbishment with an eye towards holding about 150 shows a year. The venue's new design should provide "clear sightlines and proximity to the stage for everyone in the audience, due to its unique tiered seating design," RTE reported.
Ironically, the similarly-named O2 Arena in London is operated by Live Nation's chief competitor, AEG. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
