Major Malmo Nightclub Declares Bankruptcy

MALMO, Sweden (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation announced that a concert by Italian singer-songwriter Zucchero has been moved after the operators behind Malmo-based venue Slagthuset declared bankruptcy.

The Slagthuset, or Slaughterhouse in English, is the largest dance club in Scandanavia. Formerly an actual slaughterhouse, the venue was converted into an entertainment space in 1993 and is part of a larger complex consisting of hotels, office space, theater, dance floors and restaurants.

According to Swedish newspaper Sydsvenskan, the insolvency was triggered wen Tune AB, who provides production equipment at the venue, claimed that they are owed SEK 628,802 (about 78k USD) for unpaid invoices.

"The company has had payment problems for a long time and lagged with invoices up to 23 months old," a legal rep for Tune AB wrote in court filings, according to Sydsvenskan.

While that all gets sorted out i nthe courts, the Zucchero show has been moved to KB-Kulturbolaget and will take place on the same day. Other shows upcoming at the Slaughterhouse include Nour El Refai, Claes Malmberg, Lake Lustan Lake, Jason "Timbuktu" Diakité, Alex & Sigge and Lena Philipsson.
