CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Chicago Plan Commission has voted to turn 4.6 acres of Northerly Island, the former home of Meigs Field, into an 8,000-seat concert venue.
The venue will host 25 to 30 pop and family shows, and will schedule its shows to be “closely coordinated” with the nearby Adler Planetarium’s special events, Arnold Randall, director of planning and development for the Park District, told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Concerts will start in mid-June, scheduled around Chicago Bears games and international soccer matches at Soldier Field.
CCE will have a five-year contract for the temporary stage, with details on the schedule and amphitheater design plans coming in the future. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
