SYRACUSE, N.Y. (CelebrityAccess) — A new amphitheater being built on the shore of Onondaga Lake near Syracuse will take the place of the New York State Fair's aging grandstand.
According to the the Syracuse Post-Standard, Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney said that the state plans to tear down the grandstand and move all concerts to the new venue.
The site of the current grandstand will be repurposed for new arenas for equestrian events and ice hockey.
Construction is expected to be finished in time for the 2016 concert season.
The Post-Standard also reported that Mahoney is seeking $50 million in state funding to develop the state fair into a year-round theme park. – Staff Writers
