BEVERLY HILLS (Hypebot) – Trent Reznor breaks free of Interscope with a self-released new Nine Inch Nails instrumental project "Ghosts I-IV". In typical Reznor fashion, it is available at a variety of price points from a free 9 song sampler through a $300 Ultra-Deluxe Edition only from his own nin.com. A 36 song download in a variety of formats costs $5 including a 40 page pdf booklet.
"I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference," says Reznor on the band's web site. He goes on to hint that there may be more installments of Ghosts.
A check of the download services show that Amazon has once again grabbed an exclusive offering the 36 track album minus the booklet for $5. Reznor also favors Amazon with direct links for the CD/DVD and mp3 download fulfillment for his Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D remix album on Interscope although other download stores also carry the project. Reznor says that Ghosts I – IV was "composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall" and "sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain".
"I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point," says Reznor. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective – dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams."
In a smart attempt to monetize the interest of a wide variety of Nine Inch Nail fans, Reznor is making Ghosts I-IV available in various formats and packages at a variety of prices. All purchases include an immediate download in a variety of digital formats and a 40 page pdf booklet .
UPDATE: THE BAND HAS UPLOADED THE SAMPLER TO PIRATE BAY AND OTHER TORRENT SITES.
