SUNRISE, FL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – Florida’s Office Depot Center has officially named its new 4,000-capacity theatre the Sinatra Theatre presented by Office Depot. The theater will be the premier venue of its kind in South Florida and is scheduled to open on October 8. It will offer an intimate setting within the Office Depot Center that will host some of the world's greatest artists and comedy acts as well as a variety of children's shows and off-broadway plays.
"Because of the significance of the Sinatra name and the wonderful family of Frank Sinatra, this is a very emotional and profound announcement," Office Depot Center Chief Operating Officer Michael Yormark said. "Frank Sinatra was one of the most important musical figures of the 20th century and we are honored to affix his name to our new theatre. I'd like to thank the Sinatra family and his former manager Eliot Weisman for helping us to honor his accomplishments. The Sinatra Theatre will add another dimension to our venue, its programming and the overall entertainment options of the Office Depot Center and its entertainment entities."
Eliot Weisman, President of Premier Artist Services, Inc. was associated with Frank Sinatra for more than 20 years. He will spearhead the programming efforts of the Sinatra Theatre. Weisman, an icon in the entertainment industry, will utilize his tremendous experience and industry contacts to assist in bringing the top acts from around the world to Sunrise.
"I know Frank would be very happy to be recognized like this," Weisman said. "He would have said, 'Just get it right,' and we fully intend to do just that. I'm pleased to be involved in honoring his memory and we'll be celebrating his 90th birthday in the first year of the Theatre. In my opinion, he's the greatest showman of the 20th century. His accomplishments paved the way for an extraordinary number of entertainers, including the majority of stars that will be performing at the Sinatra Theatre."
Seating capacity for the Sinatra Theatre presented by Office Depot will range from 3,000 to 4,000 depending on the show. The new configuration is expected to add another 25 to 30 shows and attractions each year, including 15 shows that will be offered on a season series subscription basis from September through May. A number of acts have already been scheduled to perform. An announcement regarding the lineup of performers for the upcoming season will be made within the next few weeks.
New curtains, sound system, lighting system and seating configuration will be installed during the next several months in preparation for the theatre's premiere. Great sight lines and up-close seating will help to create a cozy theatre atmosphere.
