JERSEY CITY, NJ (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Former Gang Starr Rapper Guru is reportedly in a coma after suffering a serious heart attack and will undergo surgery on March 1st.
Guru, AKA Keith Elam, built a solid fan base through his work with Gang Starr in the 1990s and the early 2000s. He expanded on Gang Starr's rap-jazz crossover with a series of collaborative albums, released under the Jazzmatazz moniker and solo projects.
His most recent solo release, "Lost and Found," was released May of 2009 after a two-year hiatus but he has generally kept a low profile in recent years.
Details on his medical condition were brought to light by his professional partner DJ Premier during a radio interview on Sirius XM. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
