SoundScan Starts Counting Loudbytes Merchandise Plus Download Packages

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (Hypebot) – Loudbytes has been experimenting with selling t-shirts, buttons, mugs and other music merchandise with download codes attached. Now Loudbytes downloads will be counted by SoundScan alongside sales at iTunes, Amazon and other outlets.

“Loudbytes is not about originating sales online, it’s about creating new ways to sell digital music in the physical world,” says Ruben Lozano Loudbytes Founder & CEO. “Most retailers are never going to stock CDs but this doesn’t mean that they don’t want to sell or promote music, many of them do."

"We aren’t looking for consumers to change their behavior; we are trying to fit music and a new generation of music products into it,” concludes Lozano. Artists and labels can buy customized merchandise that come with music download codes or purchase just the codes, which includes Loudbyte' s redemption platform, and attach codes to their own merchandise using hangtags or a sticker.

Each code is redeemable online for a digital music single, EP, or album specific to each artist and their merchandise. Music is stored on the company's servers and delivered as MP3s when fans redeem their download codes.
