STOCKHOLM, Sweden (VIP-NEWS) — Spotify is planning to launch a mobile version and launch in the US, it has been reported.
Founder of the online music service Daniel Ek has commented "we want to be everywhere", according to BBC News.
However, those who want to download the service will reportedly have to pay a charge – a £9.99 subscription is currently available in the UK which blocks adverts.
Speaking to the news service at the Great Escape Festival, Ek added: "Portability is an important aspect, [as is] interoperability with other devices."
"That's definitely something we think is a premium product that people are willing to pay for – being able to bring the music with you or being able to have it working on your stereo."
Plans to expand across the Atlantic were also discussed, with Ek remarking: "My hope and ambition is that we'll see something at the end of the year, maybe the beginning of next year, in the US".
Spotify was launched in the UK last January and contains around three million tracks.
