Swift Kicks Music's Ass

NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — At an event held in Nashville on January 28, Taylor Swift celebrated her numerous career accomplishments, including the top-selling and most-played artist of 2010.

Nielsen SoundScan presented Taylor with a plaque commemorating the historic debut week sales of Speak Now. In its first week of release, the album sold more than 1,047,000 copies, marking the best-selling debut week for a female country artist, ever.

Taylor Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2010 with more than 4.4 million albums sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   Taylor has sold more than four million albums for three consecutive years; the only artist to sell 4+ million albums in each of the last three years.

If it wasn’t for the passing of Michael Jackson in 2009, Taylor Swift would have been the best-selling artist for three consecutive years; she came in second behind Michael in 2009 with 4.6 million album sales and was the best selling artist in 2008.

With 34,269,000 digital tracks sold to date, Taylor remains the top-selling digital ever, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Taylor Swift was the most played artist on the radio in 2010 with more than 1,1281 million spins, according to Nielsen BDS.
