LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Ticketmaster announced that they have extended their deal to serve as the exclusive ticketing provider for the PGA Tour.
The multi-year deal will include an integration of Ticketmaster's ticketing software into the PGA Tour app to help manage tickets and 'fan experiences' for PGA tournament events.
Golf fans will now be able to have purchase tickets through the app and have them directly delivered to their movile device. As well, tournment organizers will be able to opt-in to the PGA Tour's partnership with Ticketmaster, with key events such as the AT&T Byron Nelson, Travelers Championship and Wyndham Championship already signed on for the deal.
“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Ticketmaster to improve the overall experience for PGA TOUR tournaments and our passionate fans,” said Peter Kent, SVP Tournament Revenue for the PGA TOUR. “The use of Ticketmaster’s consumer-facing technology in our newly updated PGA TOUR app is going to make the tournament experience that much greater for our fans. While other distribution methods will still be available, we are excited about the ease of ticket management the PGA TOUR app now provides to fans attending our events.”
PGA Tour events around the globe have seen record-setting attendance numbers, with tournaments like the Waste Management Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS Championship boasting some of the biggest turn-outs in recent years.
