COLUMBIA, MD (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Fans like free it seems as more than 30,000 tickets to the Virgin Mobile FreeFest were snapped up in under an hour this past weekend. 90,000 unique visitors requested 180,000 tickets for the 1 day festival – six times the number of available free tickets.
The Virgin Mobile FreeFest is set to take place Sept. 25th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. This year's lineup includes M.I.A, LCD Soundsystem, T.I., Pavement, and Ludacris. Joan Jett, Jimmy Eat World, Thievery Corporation, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Joan Matt & Kim, The Temper Trap, Yeasayer, and in the Dance Forest: Sleigh Bells, Chromeo, Neon Indian, Modeselektor and Die Antwoord.
The initial round of tickets were aimed primarily at people who'd purchased tickets to the Virgin festival in previous years. Additional tickets to the event will be available soon to fans who donate their time a volunteer program, although full details about the offering have yet to be released.
