LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Comedian and provocateur Kathy Griffin announced a North American run planned for this spring, including an already sold out second show at New York’s Carnegie Hall on June 26th.
Griffin’s “Laugh Your Head Off” tour, which is slated to kick off at the National Arts Center in Ottawa on May 23rd, includes a slew of Canadian dates before she returns to the U.S. for a two-night stand at the Masonic in San Francisco on June 14th & 15th.
Griffin’s return to the road comes a year after she sparked controversy when she appeared in a photo posted to social media, holding a prop that appeared to be the bloody head of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The backlash to the photo was immediate, prompting Griffin to offer an apology that she later rescinded, but the stunt cost her numerous concert dates and sponsorships, as well as longtime gig on CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast.
Griffin also reported that the photo led to an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and she claims she’s been detained numerous times at airports after landing on an Interpol watch list.
Earlier this year, she appeared on the HBO show ‘Real Time With Bill Maher” during which she announced plans for a return to the stage and she subsequently performed a sold-out show at Carnegie Hall.
