ConcertTickets.com Institutes New Certification Program

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — As the price of sold-out tickets to major events has soared in most recent years, this has also ignited rampant counterfeiting of the most sought-after concert tickets, sports tickets, theater tickets and special event tickets, according to ConcertTickets.com. Thousands of consumers are turned away at the gate each year having purchased what they thought were legitimate event tickets.

"This is a growing problem nationally and internationally," states Alan Gould, president and CEO of ConcertTickets.com. "What aggravates this more are individuals so anxious to get tickets to some events, they will buy from any unknown online source or from anyone walking a parking lot of the event."

ConcertTickets.com has initiated a new ticket reseller certification process designed to protect consumers against ticket fraud and to ensure consumers they are dealing with the most reputable ticketing agencies and brokers in the industry. Brokers and agents are evaluated on customer service; customer service policy; ticket availability; price; organizational memberships like the Better Business Bureau or the National Association of Ticket Brokers, a secure web server when purchasing online, and more.

"We do not sell concert or event tickets," states Mark Fillmore, chief information officer of ConcertTickets.com. "Our visitors can electronically compare and shop the database of other independent ticket services but doing so with the knowledge that these agents have been assessed independently and are reputable."

"A service like ConcertTickets.com is greatly needed," states Jason Young, president of Desert Tickets in Las Vegas. "It can be challenging for the average person to know if a ticket is real or fake. By using this service and a credit card with a licensed ticket broker you are significantly more safe and secure in purchasing tickets in the secondary marketplace," added Young. More than 15 ticket brokers and agencies have joined as charter members of TicketConcerts.com
