TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — Legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart has announced that he is retiring from music.
The news isn't entirely shocking. Paert has been candid about his struggles with chronic tendonitis and the band's most recent tour R40, was widely regarded as their final major run due in large part to Peart's health.
Peart discussed his retirement in an interview with DrumHead Magazine:
"Lately Olivia has been introducing me to new friends at school as 'My dad– He's a retired drummer.' True to say–funny to hear. And it does not pain me to realize that, like all athletes, there comes a time to… take yourself out of the game. I would rather set it aside then face the predicament described in our song 'Losing It'."
