Southbank Centre Named Leading UK Venue For 2011


LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — London's Southbank Centre has claimed the number 1 venue in the UK from among a list of 100 competitors b the UK collection society PRS for Music. The winner was determined by the number of attendees, acts and individual music performances at the contending venues venues.

During 2011, Southbank Centre, which consists of the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and the Hayward Gallery, held 422 musical events – attended by over a million people.

Other UK venues that made the top ten include: The Sage Gateshead, O2 Academy, Stables, Ronnie Scotts, O2 Academy, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and Kings Place.
