UNCASVILLE, CT (CelebrityAccess) — When Irish rock band U2 hits the road for their U2 Experience + Innocence Tour later this year, it shouldn’t be a surprise that they are performing at major market venues such as Madison Square Garden. What may be surprising though is the choice of venue for the final show in the tour – Mohegan Sun Arena.
With a capacity of just 10,000, the Mohegan Sun Arena is the smallest venue on the tour, but as is often the case with the MoSun, it punches above its weight class.
The booking team at the arena, led by Vice President of Sports & Entertainment Tom Cantone, who works in collaboration with Live Nation’s Jim Koplik, has landed shows by some of the hottest touring artists.
The list of performers who have graced the arena’s stage is impressive and includes the likes of Justin Timberlake, Billy Joel, Prince, Bon Jovi, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Pink, Bruce Springsteen, Bruno Mars and country music legend Luke Bryan to name a small handful.
Cantone, who is widely regarded as revolutionizing the casino entertainment industry, is humble about the arena’s success and attributes it to the hard work of his team.
“It’s a tribute to our venue and our talented team who runs it that today’s mega artists have selected us as part of the world stage to be performing on. And it’s a beautiful day when we can welcome U2 to our entertainment family,“ Cantone told CelebrityAccess.
