TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) Toronto law firm Sotos Class Actions has proposed a class-action lawsuit against Ticketmaster, claiming it is taking “double-dip commissions” on the resale market.

The firm, following the investigation by the CBC and Toronto Star, claims TM is allowing professional resellers to buy “massive volumes” of concert and event tickets and reselling them “at significant markups, according to The Canadian Press.

Sotos, in a statement to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, claims Ticketmaster turns a blind eye to resellers’ use of “bot” software to buy large blocks of tickets on the primary market and is allowing it to increase profits by taking commissions on both the original sale and the resale.

The lawsuit seeks $250 million in damages, according to the Canadian Press.
