LONDON (CelebrityAccess) – Legendary music producer Giorgio Moroder has announced his first ever live tour of Europe, which is scheduled to kick off in April of 2019.
The tour production entitled A Celebration of the 80’s will see the pioneering 78-year-old Italian songwriter, producer and DJ performing highlights from his prolific career in a spectacular stage show.
Hailed by many as the Godfather of Disco, Moroder has been a major influence in the music industry for over 55 years. Having first gained recognition in the 70s with both his own music and his productions for Donna Summer (“I Feel Love”, “On the Radio” and “Love to Love You Baby”, “Hot Stuff” among others), he went on to work with big names like Cher (“Bad Love”), Blondie (“Call Me”), David Bowie (“Cat People”), Debbie Harry (“Rush Rush”), Freddie Mercury (“Love Kills”), Bonnie Tyler (“Here She Comes”), and Pat Benatar (“Here’s My Heart”).
Moroder has also composed and produced the soundtracks for a wide array of iconic movies such as American Gigolo, Cat People, Scarface, Electric Dreams, The Never Ending Story, Top Gun, Flashdance and Midnight Express.
These days Moroder, who is a multi-Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe winner, is collaborating with the likes of Daft Punk, Sia, Charli XCX, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Kelis, among others.
Commenting on his upcoming tour, Moroder said: “It is something I have always wanted to do, fans kept reaching out to me, asking if I would ever do a real tour. Back in the days it was unthinkable for producers to ever leave their studios. That territory was reserved for the singers. Today, DJ’s and music producers have become the superstars of popular dance music, so the time feels right and I am so excited to be finally doing this!”
