PHILADELPHIA (CelebrityAccess) — Bill Cosby's attorneys are seeking to block the release of material related to a confidential settlement reached in a 2006 sexual assault lawsuit.
According to the Associated Press, Cosby's lawyers on Tuesday moved to block a subpoena sent to an attorney representing the plaintiff of the 2006 lawsuit by three women who are suing Cosby for defamation.
The three women, Tamara Green, Therese Serignese and Linda Traitz, have accused Cosby of defaming them by having his represenatives deny their claims that Cosby sexually assaulted them. The women believe that documents from the 2006 lawsuit will help to make their case.
Cosby's lawyers argued that confidentiality agreements "should not be set aside lightly."
Cosby has been plagued by numerous allegations of sexual misconduct but has not been charged with any crimes. A previous class action suit alleging abuse brought against him were settled out of court with non-disclosure agreements stipulated as part of the settlement. – Staff Writers
