LAMC Set For NYC August 2-5

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The 7th annual Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) is returning to New York August 2-5 at the Puck Building in Soho. Raul Campos, the DJ/host of KCRW’s popular “Nocturna” radio program in Los Angeles, will host this year’s event.

LAMC panelists include Michel Vega (William Morris Agency), Jason Flom (president, Virgin Records), Jose Tillan (president, MTV Tr3s/MTV Latin America), Pitbull, and Nic Harcourt (KCRW “Morning Becomes Eclectic).

The conference has added another round of major artists including Latin crunk/hip-hop powerhouse Pitbull, Mexico’s favorite b-boy rockers Plastilina Mosh, Chilean buzz rockers Los Bunkers, and multiple Latin Grammy nominee Kevin Johansen. Manu Chao has added his first New York City show in more than five years, to immediately follow LAMC on Monday, August 7 at Celebrate Brooklyn at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Grammy-nominated Mexican rap-rockers Molotov (along with Zoe & Delux) will also be coming to New York for a pre-LAMC concert at the Bowery Ballroom on August 1.

Among the events planned for LAMC 2006 are free concerts at Central Park Summerstage, Celebrate Brooklyn Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell, and Museo del Barrio, as well as numerous showcases and industry panels for LAMC registrants. Past conferences have averaged more than 1,000 music industry attendees and 20,000 concert fans each year.
