Ontario, CA Arena Officially Breaks Ground

ONTARIO, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The 11,000-seat Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California, officially broke ground on May 7th, commencing construction that is expected to be finished by October 2008.

The AEG-operated arena is being built on a 37-acre parcel of land and will be 225,000 square feet upon completion. It will house 9,500 fixed seats, with additional portable seating available for certain events. Capacity will be 9,736 for hockey, 10,832 for basketball and 11,089 for concerts.

“Music is going to be a big part of what we do,” AEG President and CEO Tim Leiweke said at a groundbreaking ceremony, according to the San Bernardino Sun. “You're going to see big artists.”

Under the city's deal with AEG, Ontario is guaranteed to receive at least $1 million a year, plus a share of the profits from all events held at the arena. The deal guarantees a minimum of 120 events a year, though that number will most likely end up being much higher. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
