Jerry Seinfeld will stage a comedic fund-raiser October 8 at Carnegie Hall in New York for the Twin Towers Fund and the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund. Comedians Bill Cosby, Colin Quinn, Will Ferrell and George Wallace also are expected to join him.
"In the Jewish religion, the basic mourning period is the seven days of Shiva," Seinfeld said. "At the end of that, you're required to attempt to re-engage with the world and your life as it was – and that's where we come in.
"The entertainmnet industry always has to be responding, moment to moment, to people's tastes and feelings," he continued. "This is a major shift that happened very suddenly, so it will require an immediate change."
Tickets are priced from $2,500-$100 and go on sale Sept. 27.
