Slacker Canadian Music Fest Announces Initial Round Of Artists


TORONTO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Slacker Canadian Music Fest is gearing up for their 2012 edition and has announced the first round of their massive lineup for next year.

Officially scheduled to run from March 21st – March 25th, the festival this year will sneak some additional programming in for early birds on March 20th, increasing the event overall to six days. Staged at more than 60 venues around Toronto, Slacker 2012 is set to feature more than 4,500 musicians, ranging from local performers to international acts.

Announced headliners for 2012: Childish Gambino w/ Danny Brown, The Cat Empire w/ Tinpan Orange, Fanfarlo, Saul Williams w/ Spoek Mathambo, The Trews w/ Poor Young Things and Diesel, John K. Samson & The Provincial Band and the The Saw Doctors.

Also on the slate for the festival is the 12th Annual Independent Music Awards – "The Indies." The awards show is set for Saturday March 24 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and will feature some top names in indie rock, including a reunion by one of Canada’s most influential pop punk bands and a rare performance by one of America’s beloved electro-pop bands.
