AUGUSTA, GA (CelebrityAccess) — SMG and the Symphony Orchestra Augusta announced that Marty Elliott has been named as the new General Manager of the Miller Theater in downtown Augusta.
While at the Miller, Elliott will be tasked with programming the historic theater when it reopens following an extensive rehabilitation.
A veteran facilities manager, Elliot comes to the Miller after leading the Fifth Third Bank Stadium and the Sports and Entertainment Park at Kennesaw State University.
The Miller, which will serve as a home for the Symphony Orchestra Augusta, is a former movie house that sat dormant for more than 30 years before being acquired by a local businessman Peter Knox, in 2005. Knox later gifted the property to the Symphony, who launched a major restoration for the 1,300-capacity venue.
“It’s an exciting time for the Miller and Augusta community, and SMG is proud to be a part of it,” says Vice President of Theaters for SMG, Bob Papke. “We are looking forward to the future of the Miller Theater, and the addition of Marty Elliott to the team will certainly strengthen that process.” – Staff Writers
