NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess) – Attention all Lana fans! Your girl is goin’ country. In an exciting turn of events, Lana Del Rey recently announced that she’ll explore the country genre with her upcoming album Lasso, set to drop in September. The Grammy-nominated artist made the revelation at a Billboard event, declaring to the audience, “We’re going country. I do it, I said it, it’s happening.”

Collaborating with the renowned Jack Antonoff, known for his work with Taylor Swift, Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, and more, Del Rey shared insights into the album’s creation process. “That’s why Jack has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, and Mississippi over the last four years to write our album coming out in September called Lasso.”

This venture into country music comes on the heels of Del Rey’s most recent work, Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd?, released in March. The upcoming album boasts a lineup of collaborations with notable names such as Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Father John Misty, Judah Smith, Tommy Genesis, and SYML.

But Lana fans, don’t hold your breath! Remember Rock Candy Sweet? Del Rey announced that album in March 2021 after the release of Chemtrails Over The Country Club, but it never materialized.

For the upcoming Grammy Awards, set to air Sunday (February 4), Del Rey is nominated in several categories including Song of the Year for “A&W,” Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Candy Necklace,” and Album of the Year for Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd?

Del Rey’s journey into music began at the age of 18 when she began songwriting. She inked her first recording contract with 5 Points Records in 2007, leading to the release of her inaugural digital album, Lana Del Ray, in January 2010. Subsequently, in a bold move, she bought herself out of the contract in April 2010. The artist then signed a joint contract with Interscope, Polydor, and Stranger Records in July 2011, culminating in the release of her second studio album, Born to Die, in January 2012. The album debuted impressively at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and secured the fifth-best-selling album of 2012.
