LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Spirit Music Group (SMG), a prominent global independent music publishing company, has announced the well-deserved promotion of Tamar Wax to Vice President of Film and TV Music and Creative. Wax, formerly Senior Director, Film & TV Music for SMG, operates from the company’s Los Angeles office and reports directly to Amy Hartman, Senior Vice President, Creative Services.

Amy Hartman commended Wax’s exceptional contributions, stating, “Tamar has proven herself to be an exceptional creative sync licensing executive, having landed multiple high-profile sync licenses for our Spirit Music Group roster across trailers, promo campaigns, TV shows, and films. We couldn’t be happier to acknowledge her dedication to our songwriters and our music supervisor community with this well-deserved promotion.”

Wax, with over two decades of experience in the music industry, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Working with the Spirit song catalog is an absolute privilege. I have always been passionate about music and the power it has to elevate pictures, stories, and marketing campaigns. Spirit Music is home to some of the best songwriters in the industry, and I’m thankful to Amy and the team at Spirit Music Group for giving me this opportunity.”

Wax’s extensive background as a music executive includes procuring sync placements and collaborating closely with music supervisors across various platforms. Her experience also extends to the film and television studio realm, where she oversaw the music used in visual media, aligning with the visions of producers and directors.

While at SMG, Wax played a pivotal role in securing notable placements, such as a trailerized remix of Daddy Yankee’s hit “Gasolina” in the Fast X film, trailer, and TV spots. She also achieved success with a remix of Billy Squier’s “The Stroke” in the trailer for Amazon’s AIR, an HBO Max brand image campaign, and a PGA promo. Additionally, Wax secured placements in trailers for Minx season two and the Netflix Rebel Moon trailer, among others.

Before joining SMG in 2019, Wax served as Vice President, Creative at Vibrant Ground Music. Her key projects included trailers for Star Trek Discovery, Animal Kingdom, Skyscraper (Universal Pictures), Speed Kills (Saban Films), and NBC’s Thursday night primetime programming campaign.

As Director of Music for Warner Bros. Television, Wax served as an in-house music supervisor for the studio. Notable projects included Veronica Mars, Smallville, Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Two Broke Girls, Human Target, and Two and a Half Men.

Wax’s journey began in the music department at Miramax Films after graduating from UCLA with a Bachelor’s degree in Ethnomusicology. Her early career involved contributions to projects including Chicago, Gangs of New York, Serendipity, and Shall We Dance.

This promotion underscores Wax’s valuable contributions to the music industry and her ongoing commitment to elevating the creative synergy between music and visual media.
