The announcement was made live on ABC by Ryan Seacrest and Rock Hall inductee Lionel Richie during the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” episode of American Idol. This episode featured the Top 14 Idol finalists taking on songs from legendary Rock Hall inductees while Americans cast their live votes for the Top 12.

“This diverse group of inductees each broke down musical barriers and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps,” remarked John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
