FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A Ft. Lauderdale musician and promoter was killed after intervening in a brawl, following a gig at a local tavern.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Jimmy Pagano had just finished performing with his band the Untamed at Fishtales, a local bar, when he observed a man threatening a bartender with a knife over a disputed bar tab. Pagano stepped in to help and was fatally stabbed by the man later identified by police as 38-year-old Brian Edward Krebs.
Krebs went on to stab 4 other people, including patrons and employees of the bar as they tried to subdue him.
Krebs allegedly has a record of volatile behavior and was recently cited by police for property damage to the apartment he rented, including allegedly smashing a toilet with a hammer.
Krebs has been charged with first degree murder and four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Pagano was a well-known figure in the South Florida music scene, not only as a musician but as a promoter and sound man. Pagano's friend and talent agent Judy Blem told the Palm Beach Post that there will be no funeral, but added that friends are organizing a benefit concert to launch a fund to help support Pagano's survivors, which include an autistic son. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
