TORONTO, ON (CelebrityAccess) – It looks like the government of Ontario is set to overhaul its ticketing laws effective Sunday, July 1st.

The Ticket Sales Act has been designed to give consumers better access to concert tickets within the province while also protecting them against inflated ticket prices and scams.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what the updated laws encompass:

1) Computer bots will be officially banned.
2) It will now be illegal to resell concert tickets for more than 50% over the face value.
3) All sellers will now be required to disclose the original face value of the ticket + any additional charges such as taxes or service fees.

Meanwhile, most industry experts feel the crackdown on ticket resales is unlikely to solve the problem but rather to push it underground, and they’re probably right. If this economy has shown us anything it’s that the idea of supply and demand is totally busted, and people will pay market value no matter what the ticket is worth.
