Bandcamp Updates App, Releases First Indie Music 'City Guide'

NEW YORK (Hypebot) – Quietly and deliberately Bandcamp continues to improve and expand its offerings for indie labels, musicians and their fans. The latest update brings improved search and discovery to its fan focused app along with the launch of a series of musical City Guides.

"Portland chillwave on cassette? Pfft, you know it!"

"Surf from Madrid on vinyl?! We’re as surprised as you!"

An update to Bandcamp’s app allows users to search its catalog of 1.8 million albums and 14 million tracks by genre, and filter by format and artist location.

To showcase and celebrate the app update, the company has compiled its first Bandcamp City Guide. 11 curated unreleased tracks from an eclectic selection of Oakland, CA based bands are available digitally and on vinyl. Included are artist tips of their favorite dive bars, record stores, venues, and restaurants.

If Bandcamp continues to release City Guides, the could provide both a boost to local music scenes and a travel guide for fans.

PS: Hey, Bandcamp! I'll gladly curate and promote a City Guide for my hometown of Roanoke, VA for free.
