(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –Clear Channel Entertainment is considering starting a record label, according to the New York Post. The move has been under consideration for months within Clear Channel, according to sources familiar with the matter," said the paper.
"We have no plans to start a record label," a CCE spokesperson advised CelebrityAccess.
The Post also said that investment bankers have pitched Clear Channel to purchase EMI.
Clear Channel does produce one-off Instant Live recordings of concerts at its venues, but this is not considered a traditional record label. Some concert promoters had their own records labels when they were bought by SFX, which later was sold to Clear Channel Communications, but SFX divested of those mom and pop labels. — Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
