ORLANDO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A crane collapsed while under load at during construction at the site of the new $480 million Orlando Events Center on Monday.
Officials said that a boom cable snapped on the crawler crane, causing it to collapse onto the northwest side of the structure. Fortunately, no one was injured during the collapse, the Orlando Business Journal reported.
The structure suffered no substantial damage and workers started clearing the crane away on Tuesday, leaving work to progress normally in unaffected portions of the site.
The arena will serve as the home for the NBA team, the Orlando Magic and is set to open ahead of their 2010 October season opener. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
