Drake Named In Nightclub Lawsuit

TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — R&B star Drake is facing a $4.8-million in the wake of a fight in a Toronto nightclub in August, 2012.

Akiel Catwell launched the suit against Drake, and other defendants, including rapper Waka Flocka Flame, Drake's distribution company OVO Inc., nightclub Muzik and Drake's bodyguards. In the suit, Catwell alleges that he was beaten by Waka Flocka Flame's bodyguards while attending an after party for Drake's OVO Fest.

“The defendants, either individually or collectively, knew or ought to have known that this afterparty would cause or foster an environment of unusual danger to the patrons of Muzik nightclub, knowing that Muzik nightclub has a history of violence,” the documents filed in Ontario Superior Court state alleged.

In his statement of defense, Drake legal counsel noted that the singer was not responsible for security at the nightclub and was not in the vicinity at the time of the alleged assault. – Staff Writers
