Egyptian State Officials Pull The Plug On Sepultura Concert

CAIRO, Egypt (CelebrityAccess) — Police in Egypt put the kibosh on a planned concert by Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura just hours before the band took the stage on Saturday over what was described as a “bureaucratic” dispute between the promoter and government officials.

In a statement released by the band's social media, they apologized for the cancellation, stating that they hoped to be able to return soon.

According to the Associated Press, Egypt's Al-Watan newspaper said three of the events organizers had been detained by authorities who described the concert as an unlicensed event for "Satan Worshipers."

The show, which was to take place at the Nile Country Club, also featured Egyptian-American death metal artist Nader Sadek and Perpetual Ferocity. – Staff Writers
