ONTARIO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — SMG will assume management of the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, taking over for AEG Facilities who had operated the venue since 2008.
According to the Press-Enterprise, AEG will instead focus on managing the hockey team, the Ontario Reign, which it owns.
“Since the opening of the Citizens Bank Arena in 2008, we have had a valuable and mutually beneficial partnership with the city,” AEG spokesman Michael Roth said statement released to the Press-Enterprise. “AEG was instrumental in the westward movement of the American Hockey League and our focus going forward is on the Reign and their continued success. As the defending Calder Cup champions, their first season has been a tremendous success.”
City Councilman Alan D. Wapner told the Press-Enterprise that the move will let them consolidate venue management under one company. SMG also operates the Ontario Convention Center on behalf of the city.
“This action will provide a synergy to enhance both venues with one team to provide strategic marketing, staffing, sales and a joint calendar,” Wapner told the newspaper. – Staff Writers
