LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Lana Rae Meisner, the wife of Eagles co-founder and former bassist was shot and killed in an apparent accident at the couple's Los Angeles home.
According to CNN, Los Angeles Police officials said they death occurred while Lana Meisner was moving a case used to store a rifle.
“As she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner,” a statement by the LAPD said.
Randy Meisner “was cooperative throughout the investigation,” it added.
Meisner was a founding member of The Eagles and performed with the band on some of their best known hits, but left the group after the “Hotel California” tour and has not rejoined them for any of their subsequent reunions, save for the band's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. – Staff Writers
