NEW YORK (Hypebot) – GigMaven enables artists to find and book gigs online. So far 500 acts have joined as have credible venues in Boston, Columbus, and New York. Artists create profiles or import them from MySpace. Music bookers list availabilities and search for an ideal act to complete a multi-act night. Unlike the many sites that help acts market and sell, GigMaven is only about circumventing the endless emailing and cat-and-mouse phone calls to get gigs.
ANALYSIS: As a free service, I don't see a revenue model; and GigMaven's future depends both on the quality of the acts and the willingness talent buyers to engage. Demand for gigs will never meet supply, but perhaps this is a tool to help improve the quality of the transaction.
