A joke can be hilarious, profound, bland, misunderstood, bad, objectionable or just about anything depending upon how it is delivered and how it is received. Monty Python once did a sketch about a joke that was so funny that people who heard it died laughing. Hey, that might even be a joke in itself.
Richard Wiseman, a British psychologist from Hertfordshire University (near London) is searching for the world's funniest joke. For the next year, he will accept jokes at www.laughlab.co.uk and try to find out why men and women, old and young people, and specific nationalities find different jokes funny or not. The funniest jokes will then be recorded by a comedian with different types of deliveries and timings to arrive at what he hopes will be a comedic formula. And, boy will that be boring!
