Live Earth South Africa Switches Venue

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Organizers of the South African leg of the July 7th Live Earth concerts have announced a change of venue, bringing the show closer to the center of town.

According to a statement from promoters Big Concerts, “A decision to change the venue for the Johannesburg leg of the series was made in order to accommodate critical logistical requirements.

The show will be held in the city’s 18,000-capacity Coca-Cola Dome instead of Maropeng, which is situated 45 minutes outside of the city in the Cradle of Humankind.

The location change reflected the difficulty organizers saw with spectators trying to arrange travel from Johannesburg to the venue.

The Live Earth South Africa concert will be headlined by U.K. singer Joss Stone, Senegal’s Baaba Maal, Benin’s Angelique Kidjo and U.K. band UB40, along with local acts the Parlotones, Soweto Gospel Choir, Zola, Danny K and Vusi Mahlasela. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
