Neil Young To Play 'Back To Basics' Festival

TONBRIDGE, KENT (VIP NEWS) — Rock singer Neil Young is to headline a new summer music festival dubbed a "back to basics" event.

A Day at the Hop Farm in Tonbridge, Kent is being billed as a festival experience without registration, VIP areas and branding.

The July event marks the UK return of former Mean Fiddler mogul Vince Power, who had interests in Glastonbury and the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Further performers are expected to be announced later this month and April.

'Most important element'

Irish-born Power, who was made an honorary CBE in 2006, has been associated with the Benacassim festival in Spain for the past three years.

He said: "I am happy to be returning to create a new, independent festival in a far more competitive marketplace, which counteracts the current brand-saturated music scene."

Power added that the event would "make the festival-goers themselves the most important element."

He has expressed an interest in starting a series of similar events in the UK and across Europe.

Power also took over many well-known music venues including The Astoria in London and The Jazz Cafe.

He also masterminded last year's reunion of punk band the Sex Pistols, according to BBC
