Randy Quaid And Wife Detained In Vermont On Fugitive Warrant

BURLINGTON, VT (CelebrityAccess) — Actor and musician Randy Quaid, and his wife Evi, have held by authorities in Vermont after failing to post $500,000 bail Monday on charges of being fugitives from justice in California.

According to the Vermont Free Press, Evi Quaid pleaded not guilty Monday morning in Burlington while Randy Quaid appeared in court in St. Albans with another appearance scheduled for later this week.

The Quaids were arrested over the weekend while attempting to enter the United States from Canada. They face five year old charges of felony vandalism, unauthorized entry into a dwelling, obstructing police and failing to appear in court while out on bail stemming from a 2010 incident where they were found to be squatting in the guest house of a home they previously owned.

Following the charges in California, Quaid and his wife sought refugee status in Canada, claiming, according to CTV Vancouver News, that the feared for their lives from a shadowy cabal known as the Hollywood star whackers who target celebrities, including Heath Ledger.

Quaid appeared in more than 90 films during his career, as well as performed in the band Randy Quaid and the Fugitives. – Staff Writers
