Steely Dan Set For Beacon Residency, Summer Tour


NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Jazz-rock legends Steely Dan are set for a ten-show residency at New York's famed Beacon Theatre.

Starting on October 12, and running through the end of the month, the concert series will include four shows with guest Rickie Lee Jones, as well as album nights, including the first time that the band has performed their seminal 1973 hit Countdown to Ecstasy in its entirety during a live show. Other albums to be performed in full during the residency incldue 1976’s The Royal Scam, 1977’s Aja, and 1980’s Gaucho, plus “Greatest Hits” and “By Popular Demand” nights.

The band's lineup for the residency includes founders Walter Becker and Donald Fagen as well as Jon Herington (guitar), Keith Carlock (drums), Freddie Washington (bass), Jim Beard (keyboards), a four-piece horn section and three backup vocalists.

Ahead of the residency, the band will will take their “The Dan Who Knew Too Much” tour on the road this summer. The tour kicks off on June 7th at Cincinnati, OH’s Riverbend Music Center, with special guest Steve Winwood and runs through July before wrapping up at Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown, PA on July 17th. – Staff Writers
